Little “Whitehill” lie

“The Lie” takes place in North Marston, Massachusetts during springtime. It’s about a young man on his way to go to the great Whitehill preparatory school where for many generations the Remenzels have atended. Eli is only thirteen years old and is on his way to Whitehill school with his mother Sylvia, his father Doctor Remenzel, and their chauffeur Ben. His parents are so proud of him going to this school that he feels he cant tell them he had failed the addition test and can not get in. Eli feels like he will be letting his parents down if he tells them he did not make it in.

“The Lie” has all the parts of a comedy. “The Lie” begins in a nomral atmosphere taking place in springtime in a car going up to Massachusetts to the Whitehill school. The mild conflict is that Eli did not get acceptes into Whitehill school and did not tell his parents, “Doctor Remenzel and his wife had no doubts whatsoever about their son’s getting into Whitehill. It was inconceivable to them that Eli could not go there…” Eli was afraid that if he told them the truth they would be ashamed and disappointed of him not getting into Whitehill. All the men in the Remenzel family had gone there, it was a tradition and he did not want to break it. The conflict was when he and his family arrived at Whitehill and he still had not told his parents he had been denied acceptance into the great Whitehill prepatory school where all his ancestors attended . After avoiding Doctor Warren and escaping out of sight and hiding, Doctor Warren informed his parents that Eli had failed the addition test and would not be admitted into Whitehill. Once they found Eli they decided that it was not the worst thing to happen and that they had been pushing him too hard to do what they wanted. Everything returned to normal when they got back in their Rolls-Royce and started heading back home.

“A chip of the old block” an old saying used to describe how similar a son is to his father, something that Doctor Remenzel took way to seriously. He had pressured his son so hard to go to Whitehill that he felt he could not tell him he failed the admission test because he would be disappointed in him. This is just one of the many lessons that can be learned from this short store. Do not expect your kild to follow you r path. Give them their freedom to find their own way. Another lesson is that telling a lie is never a good thing. If you tell one lie no mater how small it will keep on growing into something way bigger then you meant it to be. For example in “The Lie” he ends up having to drive all the way up to Massachusetts and is still not able to tell his parents that he did not pass the admittance test. They have to be told by Doctor Warren that their son did not get in.

“The Lie” can teach both kids and adults a lesson. It can teach the kids that telling the truth is always better then making a lie no matter how small the lie is. The lesson for parents is don’t push your son so hard to do what you want him to do that he is afraid to tell you the truth. Eli feels as if he will let his dad down if he does not make it into Whitehill like all of his realities. In the end the father realizes that it is not that bad that he did not make it in and the son realizes that he should have told them the truth in the first place.

"Story of an Hour"

"The Story of an Hour" is man vs. himself. She had married the man even though she didnt love him. Back then marrige wasnt like what it is today. Women would have to get married if they wanted anything in life. It was her fault that she married him and there was nothing she could do about it now. There were no divorces and she was stuck with him even thoufg she didnt love him. She would be stuck with him untill one of them died. She was the one that had said yes to him and had married him. it was no one elses fault exept hers. Now she was stuck with him.

My goals are to be able to put more details in my paragraphs. I also want to write longer paragaphs and have better transitions. I hope to be able to write a better intruduction and theisis statment.

Mathilda gets invited to go to a ball so she goes and buys a new dress. After she buys the dress she realizes she doesnt have any jewlry to wear with it. So thenm she goes to her friend and barrows a neckalce. After the dance she finds out the necklace is missing! The next day her and her husband go back and retrace their steps. After they cant find it they decied to buy another one just like the one they lost and give it back to the lady. They find a necklace exactly like the missing one. After selling most of their posetions they have enough money to buy the necklace. Later after they gave the necklace back they found out mthat it was only worth 500 franks.

How to build a fire is a story about man vs nature. It's about a man lost in Canada. He is stuck in a blizzard and has to survive. The element of nature is th bilizzard the man finds himself lost in. He was walking on a trail in Canada to meet up with his friends. He is all by himself in the middle of what he dosnt know is a blizzard. He is walking and gets his foot wet so he bulids a fire to dry it off. But the fire gets put out by snow faling from a branch. He starts to get numb so he starts running. When he was running he fell down then got back up then fell again. After he fell for the last time he whent to sleep for ever, nature won.
